The Jeep Journals

I left my corporate job on 7/21/17 in order to help showcase Nature for Mother Nature fans online. I did not arrive easily at this decision since my corporate job paid extremely well and included amazing benefits. Alas, the one benefit I was not easily allowed was the time to immediately pursue any and all wild events happening any and all moments of every day throughout the world. I know it would have helped me greatly to see more Nature during the work week, so that is what I’ve set out to bring to you. Stay tuned!

Day Two of an Extended Water Fast

Tuesday, December 21, 2021 7:48 PM

On my birthday for this year I wanted to offer up my daily bread as a humble token of genuine regard for the gifts that Mother Nature has provided me for so very long in this amazing lifespan that I’ve been granted. That was yesterday. Today on day two of my water fast I hiked the main loop at Friedrich Wilderness Area here in San Antonio. Signs of animal/insect/bird life were slim, but signs of human life were plentiful in both amazing and diminutive ways.

While finding an ornate tree within the park is fun enough, I cannot help but reflect on how many other discarded festive ornaments and container based items are also being brought in “to celebrate life” while simultaneously damaging the environment all the further. At the same time I wonder if and when someone meaningful enough can be persistent enough to get something, anything, made from 100% recycled/repurposed water bottle plastics.

Today I saw one of my favorite vehicles, a WS-6 style Trans Am. The hood on this beauty is modified, and I absolutely respect seeing the front license plate filler on this showpiece of a car! If I’d played my hand properly, I would have my original 2002 WS-6 Sunset Orange Metallic Trans Am and it and the Jeep I’ve got would cover all of the ground I ever covered throughout this lifetime. What a fine machine, don’t you think? These are H-O-T Wheels!

At the end of the day, I was treated to such a fantastic sunset… The colors that my mobile device can capture are amazing, and yet to see this in person was even more splendid. All that and I was having a great conversation with mom about how we are going to save the world, one misappropriated material after another! It is nice to dream, anyway, is this not true? When I fast, I find my dreams become more and more refined since my sleep is more sound.

There are many things that I would love to see repurposed plastic pour its efforts into, but perhaps none would be so amazing as the very items you see all around you on a regular or not so regular basis. What if our hardware store trees were made from 100% repurposed plastic? What if the guitar mount on the wall in the backdrop was made from a number of recycled bottles? What if the hockey mask you see (you did see it, right?) was plastic bottles?

These are a lot of questions for another time, this time around we are moving so quickly towards things that perhaps more than just a few noteworthy individuals should be the ones taking the time to fast… Maybe everyone can be… Faster? Maybe, as I experience my second day of health recovery, someone might just “strike a chord” just the right way so that the very word itself, and for sure not the imagery that is “different” to some, would not be misinterpreted.

Today I spoke at great length about the difficulties with us relying on 30% comprehension to carry out with 100% certainty those actions that might not actually have been helpful. Maybe in time, like when the time is right, I mean, we will all learn how to communicate better because we will have learned to follow through by first hearing that which is being asked and second taking actual action towards those faith aspects we claim to want to represent properly.

For me, I had a strand of lights fail this year. Although I did a heckuva job making these lights look GREAT on this tree, I was still about “a head” short of lights to make it to the top of the tree this year. Thankfully in this household we appreciate quirky and creativity and especially where the two meet along the roads of action and so for this year, though I know we all have done it only one way so far, MAYBE we will do at least one thing differently before the year is up...

TBD...
